Meet the Founder
The story behind the SocPro network begins with one person's vision.
Yasmin Sultana
Founder & Executive Director
Yasmin Sultana is a dedicated sociologist with a passion for building research capacity and fostering academic collaboration. As an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, Bangladesh, she saw a need for a stronger, more connected community among sociologists in the region and beyond.
Driven by the belief that good research can create positive social change, she founded SocPro to be a non-profit, service-oriented network. Her vision was to create a platform where scholars could find support, share their work, and collaborate on projects that matter. Today, she leads SocPro with a commitment to helping researchers at all stages of their careers, from students just starting out to established professionals. She works to ensure that the network remains a voluntary, inclusive space dedicated to strengthening the practice of sociology.
